Montpellier coach Rene Girard has confessed that he is unfazed by the lavish transfer activity undertaken by rivals Paris Saint-Germain, instead looking forward to when the two sides meet in Ligue 1.

Girard's men shocked PSG last season by beating Carlo Ancelotti's side to the league title, despite many tipping La Paillade to struggle to finish in the top 10.

Nevertheless, the 58-year-old trainer insisted that the strength of Les Parisiens, will only seek to motivate his team in their attempt to defend their league crown.

"It's good for our league and we already know we will fill the Stade de la Mosson when PSG come here," Girard told reporters.

"On paper, this is obviously a team of superstars, galactic to us. It will be a challenge to overcome, a motivator, an envy. But this team will go far for the title in front of everyone."

Girard also took the opportunity to discuss the potential impact of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who this week completed his highly publicised move to the French capital from AC Milan.

"He's a player of talent who comes into our league but this should not make us think," he said. "We also have talented players able to compete against guys like him. Again, all this will raise the level of the championship and increase its interest."

Montpellier face Olympique Lyonnais in the Trophee des Champions in New York on July 28, ahead of the Ligue 1 opener against Toulouse on August 10.
