Another year, another new batch of movies to watch!
However, with production studios churning out blockbusters, sequels, spin-offs, remakes, what have you, from January to December, it will be quite a task picking which of the upcoming movies to watch. We have hereby taken the gallant task of listing down for you the most anticipated movies coming to a cinema near you throughout this year.

The seventh instalment in the long-running franchise is finally coming to the big screens this April 2015. The movie revolves around Owen Shaw's brother, Ian Shaw, going up against Dominic Toretto and his crew after they helped take down Owen. Vin Diesel, Paul Walker and Dwayne Johnson are among the returning cast. The last "Fast and Furious" movie was the most successful, with its worldwide gross of USD788.6 million, double the amount of the movie before it. In Singapore it collected USD4.7 million while in Malaysia it made USD9.8 million. "Furious 7" just might be able to break the record with everyone tuning in to watch the final movie from late actor, Paul Walker.
The Avengers: The Age of Ultron
Another big movie set for release in April is the sequel to Marvel's 2012 movie, "The Avengers". Joss Whedon once again writes and directs, while Robert Downey, Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Elizabeth Olsen, Cobie Smulders and Samuel L. Jackson are among the star-studded cast that will return in their respective roles. This movie follows the Avengers in their attempt to thwart the villainous Ultron's evil plans. The first movie made USD1.5 billion; USD11.1 million of it collected in Singapore and USD10.9 million in Malaysia.
Here's a sci-fi Disney movie to look forward to in May, a real escapism film for those looking for an adventure out of this world. Directed by Brad Bird, the story follows a teenage girl, Casey (Britt Robinson), and an inventor, Frank Walker (George Clooney), who travel to a place somewhere in time and space that exists in their collective memory. Disney has always been known with its knack of producing good movies, its most recent one being "Into The Woods", which was released in North American cinemas on last Christmas and has thus far made a worldwide gross of USD97.9 million.
Dinosaurs are loved by little kids and grownups alike, hence the reason for a fourth instalment in the "Jurassic Park" series, stomping onto the big screen in June 2015. Directed by Colin Trevorrow and starring Chris Pratt, the movie takes place in a dinosaur theme park (guess the park's name) twenty-two years after the event of 1993's "Jurassic Park". Steven Spielberg, director of the first two movies in the series, will be back as executive producer as he was in the third movie, 2001's "Jurassic Park III". The 2001 movie made USD368 million worldwide, while the original made USD1 billion and 1997's "The Lost World: Jurassic Park" made a total gross of USD618.6 million.
As adorable as Gru's three little daughters are, it cannot be denied that his little yellow henchmen stole the limelight with their nonsensical babbles and worshipping of fruits (banana...'bapple'!). Now those bug-eyed minions are ready to take over the big screen with their very own spin-off this coming June, where minions Stuart, Kevin and Bob will join super-villain Scarlet Overkill to take over the world. The minions were last seen in last year's "Despicable Me 2", which made a total worldwide gross of USD970 million, USD427 million more than 2010's "Despicable Me". In Singapore it made USD5.6 million while in Malaysia, it collected USD4.8 million.
"I'll Be Back", says Arnold Schwarzenegger, and back he is this July 2015. Schwarzenegger will be reprising his role as the titular character in the upcoming "Terminator Genisys", a movie with a title that baffles its audiences just as much as its star's surname does. This movie must be jam-packed with awesomeness as it already has two sequels planned for it even before its release. The last "Terminator" movie was 2009's "Terminator Salvation", sans Schwarzenegger, but starring Christian Bale. It made USD2 million in Singapore and USD3.8 million in Malaysia, which contributed to its worldwide gross of USD371.3 million.
One of the most anticipated animation-to-live-action films is finally hitting the silver screen in July this year. "Pan" will feature some of the biggest names in the industry. Hugh Jackman will play the villain Blackbeard, Amanda Seyfried plays Mary Darling, Garrett Hedlund is Captain Hook and Rooney Mara acts as Tiger Lily. Cara Delevingne 'grows fins' for this movie as she will feature as a mermaid while newcomer Levi Miller will star in the titular role. The last Peter Pan-based movie was 2004's "Finding Neverland", with Johnny Depp starring as Sir James Matthew Barrie. The award-winning 2004 movie, which made a total gross of USD116 million worldwide, tells of how he comes to create Peter Pan.
Fans are anticipating suave spy James Bond to shake, not stir, the world this November. The 24th "Bond" movie will once again have Daniel Craig in the leading role. Sam Mendes directs the movie, which follows the titular spy on a mission to uncover the layers of a sinister organisation known as SPECTRE. Craig will be joined by returning cast Naomi Harris as Eve Moneypenny, Ben Whishaw as Q, Ralph Fiennes as Gareth Mallory and Rory Kinnear as Tanner. Craig last starred in 2012's "Skyfall", which grossed USD5.2 million in Singapore and USD6.6 million in Malaysia. Worlwide it collected USD1 billion, making it the highest grossing movie in the long-living franchise.
The movie's title might have gotten more ridicule than praise when it was first revealed, but the force is still strong and fans of the sci-fi franchise patiently await the movie's release in December this year. Directed by J.J. Abrams and starring the likes of Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher, "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" is set thirty years after the events that took place in 1983's "Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi"; the last movie collected USD475 million worldwide.
Snoopy And Charlie Brown: The Peanuts Movie
Snoopy and the gang are getting a 3D animation treatment. The project is helmed by Steve Martino, who also worked on "Ice Age: Continental Drift"; the 2012 movie collected USD2.3 million in Singapore and USD2.6 million in Malaysia, totaling to a worldwide gross of USD877 million. Coming to a cinema near you in December 2015, "The Peanuts Movie" is the perfect movie to watch during the festive season as fans follow Charlie Brown's epic quest on the big screen. The movie is, of course, based on the famous "Peanuts" comic strip by Charles M. Schulz.
