SANDAKAN, Oct 26 (Bernama) - Maktab Rendah Sains Mara (MRSM) Sandakan and
Polyteknik Sandakan will join Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) at Sandakan
Education Hub by year end.
Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman said the MRSM building costing RM89mil
is 97 percent ready while the Polteknik building costing RM111.5mil is 99
percent completed.
"Construction work on both educational institutions in the Education Hub
are on schedule and expected ready for use by December," he told reporters after
visitingPolyteknik Sandakan site in Jalan Sungai Batang near here.
MRSM Sandakan built on a 26.48 hectares site is capable of accommodating
1,050 students while Polyteknik Sandakan built on a 16 hectares site can
accommodate 4,000 students at a time.

Musa said that when opened, the two educational institutions will not only
benefit students in surrounding areas but also students from all over the
state.
"In addition to opportunities to further studies, the establishment of
education hub will plays an important role in developing the area especially
Sungai Batang and providing jobs."
He said this is Barisan Nasional''s (BN) way of prioritising education among
young people so that they become useful citizens to religion, race and nation.
