GEORGE TOWN, April 26 (Bernama) -- Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin
Yassin today challenged Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng to prove his claim
that he has developed the state since taking over the state''s administration.
He said Lim''s claim that he had brought in foreign investments was a lie as
this would not happen without the contribution of the federal government through
the International Trade and Industry Ministry and its agencies.
"He (Lim) said that only one month after becoming Chief Minister he had
brought in a huge amount of investment, so I want him to prove his claim as all
this was the result of the efforts of the federal government and the previous
state government.
"Whatever there is in Penang now is the result of the previous state
government''s contribution. We also want to know what he (Lim) has contributed,
especially in helping the people cope with the rising cost of living," Muhyiddin
added in his speech at a people''s feast, the Kenduri Rakyat 1Malaysia in
Persiaran Mahsuri, Bayan Baru, here.
Also present at the function attended by over 10,000 people, were Penang
Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman Teng Chang Yeow, state MCA chairman Datuk Seri Dr
Ng Yen Yen, Penang Umno Liaison Committee chairman Datuk Zainal Abdin and other
BN component party leaders.

MUHYIDDIN-LIM 2 (LAST) GEORGE TOWN
Muhyiddin said Lim was only riding on the efforts and what had been done by
the previous state government.
He said the federal government had given more than what the current state
government gave to the people in Penang.
"If the state government had given RM100 (to each senior citizen), the
federal government had given more than that," he added.
In this regard, Muhyiddin urged the people of Penang to think of a brighter
future for themselves and should therefore support BN in the coming general
election.
Regarding the Bayan Baru parliamentary constituency as winnable, he urged
the people to return the seat and its three state seats to BN for their own
interest and future.
