MUHYIDDIN TO LAUNCH MALAY VERSION OF 'THE THREE KINGDOMS' ON MAY 17

KUALA LUMPUR, May 11 (Bernama) -- ''The Three Kingdoms'' - one of the greatest

novels in Chinese literature - is now available in Malay language.

Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin is scheduled to launch the

book entitled ''Hikayat Tiga Negara'' at Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka (DBP) here on

May 17.

DBP director-general Dr Awang Sariyan said the book offered, among others,

the facts and background of the era of disunity in China between the year 220

and 280.

"During the period of 60 years, various events took place in China,

including the rise of three kingdoms - Wei, Shu and Wan - which were usually at

war with each other," he told a press conference here today.

Awang said a seminar and discussion about the book would also be held at DBP

in conjunction with the launching ceremony.
