KUALA LUMPUR, June 22 (Bernama) -- The MIC has denied an allegation by Parti
Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) that several MIC national and division leaders would be
switching over to the opposition party.
MIC secretary-general Datuk S. Murugesan said the party had not heard such
rumours or speculation from its members, and believed it was just a lie to
create doubts and weaken the MIC.
Such rumours, he said, would not dampen the spirit and strength of the party,
adding that MIC would always stay strong for the welfare of the Indian
community.
"It is common knowledge that Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim
likes to make false claims. So far, none of our members has shown any interest
to join PKR.
"Let us wait and see if there''s any truth to it," he told Bernama here today,
when commenting on an online portal report yesterday, that Anwar held a secret
meeting with three MIC central working committee members and five division
leaders at the PKR headquarters to discuss their reported crossing-over to PKR.
