KUALA LUMPUR, April 29 (Bernama) -- Former MIC vice-president Datuk M. Muthu
Palaniappan has ceased to be a member of the party and his name will be struck
off from the MIC membership register effective tomorrow.
MIC Disciplinary Committee Chairman Tan Sri K.S.Nijhar said this was because
Muthu Palaniappan had not denied reports on his intention to join Parti Keadilan
Rakyat (PKR) and contest as a candidate in the Teluk Kemang Parliamentary
consituency in the upcoming general election against the Barisan Nasional (BN)
candidate.
"Under the MIC constitution, any member who joins the opposition party or
deemed to have joined ceases to be a MIC member automatically," he said in a
statement, here today.
Nijhar reminded all party members to refrain from cooperating with Muthu
Papaniappan in any form of political activities.
