KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 9 (Bernama) -- The qualifying round to determine two teams
that will join defending Asean Football Federation (AFF) Suzuki Cup champion,
Malaysia, and five other seeded teams, will be held in Myanmar from Oct 5 to 13
According to World Sport Group, the exclusive marketing partner of AFF, the
draw for the qualifying round would be held on July 11, involving Myanmar
Brunei, Cambodia, Laos and Timor Leste.
"The top two teams from the qualifiers will join the top six seeded Asean
nations, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam to
make up eight teams for the final," the company said in a statement today.
The ''Harimau Malaya'' squad, under the tutelage of Datuk K.Rajagobal lifted
the 2010 AFF Suzuki Cup after beating Indonesia 4-2 on aggregate.
The 2012 AFF Suzuki Cup will be held from Nov 24 to Dec 22.

Malaysia and Thailand will co-host the group matches while the semifinals
and final will be played on a home and away format.
Malaysia will be hosting the event for the second time, having previously
co-hosted the tournament in 2004, while Thailand were host in 2000 and co-hosted
it in 2006 and 2008.
Meanwhile, Suzuki Motor Corporation has renewed its title sponsorship for
the 2012 AFF Suzuki Cup.
The deal will see next year''s tournament bear the brand name of the leading
Japanese automotive company for the third consecutive edition.
"The AFF Suzuki Cup is Southeast Asia''s biggest football event. A record of
192 million television viewers in key Asean markets watched the 2010 AFF Suzuki
Cup along with nearly 800,000 fans who attended the matches live throughout its
