KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 9 (Bernama) -- The national football team lost 0-2 to

Hungarian club FC Gyirmot Gyor in a friendly match in Budapest, Hungary, early

today.

The team dubbed "Harimau Malaya" are currently undergoing a training session

in Vienna, Austria from Aug 4 to 16 as part of their preparations for the AFF

Suzuki Cup Championship which is slated for November.

The Hungarian club coached by their former international, János Csank

opened account in the 30th minute through midfielder Norbert Tóth before their

striker Magasföldi József wrapped up the match with the second goal in the 92th

minute, according to the club as quoted on their website,

The national football side coached by Datuk K. Rajagobal will next take on

another Hungarian club TSV Hartberg four days later before wrapping up their

European Tour with a match against FC Szombathely Haladas of Austria on Aug 14.

The Harimau Malaya squad who are defending champions of the biennial

football tournament (AFF Suzuki Cup) in 2010, have been drawn together with

runners-up Indonesia and three-time former champions Singapore in Group B.

Another Group B team will be decided after the AFF Suzuki Cup qualifying

round from Oct 5 to 13 hosted by Myanmar and featuring Brunei, Cambodia, Laos,

Timor Leste and the hosts.

Three-time champions, Thailand which will jointly host the 2012 AFF Suzuki

Cup with Malaysia, are paired with 2008 champions Vietnam, the Philippines and

another team from the qualifying round.

The Group A matches will be played at the Rajamangala Stadium in Bangkok,

Thailand while the Group B matches will be played at the National Stadium in

Bukit Jalil, Kuala Lumpur from Nov 24 to Dec 22.

The top two teams from each group will advance to the semi-finals and play

on a home and away format from Oct 8 to 13, and the final is scheduled for Dec

19 to 22.

Malaysia open their title defence against Singapore on Nov 25 and face a

qualifier on Nov 27 before the crunch match against Indonesia on Nov 1.
