One of China’s biggest web portals, Netease (NASDAQ:NTES - News), has announced that its email services have just passed 500 million users. That puts Netease mail on a par with Windows Live in 2009 and its Hotmail user-base.
Netease runs 163 Mail, 126 Mail, and Yeah.net Mail. The new stat is a combination of those three services. The Beijing-based company also revealed that 100 million of those registered are actually active users, while 60 million of them use it on their mobiles.
Apple’s iPhone and iPad have supported 163 Mail and 126 Mail natively in the Mail app since iOS 5. For Android users, Netease is now working on a dedicated Android app.
