NO TO PRINTING OF BOOK CONTAINING FALSEHOODS ON ISLAM

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 2 (Bernama) -- The Home Ministry has gazetted a

prohibitory order against the publishing of a book titled ''Islam Evil in the

Name of God'' on July 7 for containing false narrative facts.

The ministry''s Publication Control Section and Al-Quran Text secretary Abd.

Aziz Md. Nor said the narrative facts in the book was totally false, especially

those involving the character of Prophet Mohammad and the sanctity of Islam.

"The publication is the evil effort of certain quarters to sow hatred and

negative sentiments against Islam among non-Muslims. If the publishing is

allowed, it could threaten peace," he said in a statement.

He said the gazetting of the ban was in accordance with section 7 (1) of the

Printing Presses and Publications Act 1984 and it was an offence acording to

sub-section 8 of the same act if anyone printed and published the book.

"If convicted one is liable to jail not more than three years and fine not

exceeding RM20,000 or both," he added.
