Caroline Lind Biography

Lind makes her second Olympic appearance this summer as the Americans go for their second consecutive gold medal in the eights. Lind was part of the crew in Beijing that finished first and earned the distinction of being the world rowing female crew of the year. The native of Greensboro, N.C., also helped the U.S. set a world record (5:54.17) in the eights in May at a World Cup event, and was on the crew that won the 2011 world championships. Lind, who started rowing in 2000 at Phillips Academy in Andover, Mass., also earned gold in the eights at the worlds in 2006 - a world record at Eton Gorney - as well as 2007 and 2009. While a senior at Princeton, Lind won the varsity eights at the 2006 NCAA championship. She finished second in that event in 2005 and fourth in 2004. Lind’s father Fred played basketball for Duke, graduating in 1969.
