BALIK PULAU, May 25 (Bernama) -- A Myanmar man was killed, while 43 other

passengers were injured, six severe, when the express bus they were travelling

in skidded and plunged into a ravine in Jalan Tun Sardon here today.

Barat Daya police chief, Supt Hatta Md Zin said the bus was believed to have

crashed into an electric pole before plunged into a seven-metre deep ravine.

"The victim died at the scene, while the injured ones were rushed to Balik

Pulau Hospital and Penang Hospital for treatment," he told reporters here today.

It is learnt that most passengers in the bus were Myanmar nationals and they

were on the way to attend a three-day religious event at Sungai Rusa Mosque.

The accident also caused massive traffic congestion in the area for more

than four hours.
