SINGAPORE, July 18 (Bernama) -- One worker was killed, eight others were
injured and one is unaccounted for after a temporary scaffolding used for the
construction of a new Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) station subway link roof slab
gave way today.
The Land Transport Authority (LTA) said the incident occured at 6.50 am at
the new Downtown Line (DTL) Bugis Station.
Four of the eight injured workers, who were sent to the nearby Raffles
Hospital, have since been discharged, it said in a statement.
The LTA said the scaffolding structure was about four metres high, and that
the eight injured workers had been working on top of the structure.
The LTA also said that it would assist the dead worker''s family and spare no
effort to locate the missing worker.
