ONLINE HOUSING LOAN APPLICATION THROUGH TREASURY PORTAL IN 2012

PUTRAJAYA, Aug 17 (Bernama) -- From next year onwards civil servants can

apply for housing loans via the Malaysian Treasury''s integrated housing

application system portal.

"It is a simple process and is one of our innovations that will save us more

than RM1 million in costs yearly to print out forms," Treasury Housing Loan

Division secretary Datuk Shuib Md Yusop told reporters after the launch of the

portal by Treasury (Management) deputy secretary general Datuk Nozirah Bahari

here today.

He said once the applicants obtained conditional approval, they could submit

the processing fee via Internet banking.

"They would then be given two weeks to send the supporting documents for

processing.

"When their application is fully approved, we will duly inform them through

the short-messaging-service (SMS)," he said.

According to Shuib, his division had received 400 applications through the

portal which can be accessed through https://sppb.treasury.gov.my since it

started operating on Aug 10.

"The portal can currently accommodate 1,000 applications daily. So I hope

more civil servants will use the system. It is secure as it can only be accessed

by applicants," he assured.

He said the division which was set up in 1970 receives 3,200 applications a

month from civil servants with approval amount totalling between RM7 billion to

RM8 billion a year.
