KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 23 (Bernama) -- The Dewan Rakyat sitting today passed the

Supply Bill 2012 (Budget 2012) amounting to RM232.8 billion.

The 2012 Budget was passed at about 10.40pm when the third reading by Second

Finance Minister Datuk Husni Hanadzlah received more votes in favour.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri

Muhyiddin Yassin were also present at the Dewan Rakyat tonight.

On Oct 7, Najib tabled the Budget 2012 comprising RM181.6 billion for

operating expenditure and RM51.2 billion for development expenditure.

Earlier, Deputy Home Minister Datuk Wira Abu Seman Yusop, who was winding up

the debate for the Home Ministry, said the ministry would review the system of

He said the move was appropriate as the grading for the salary and posts of

police officers had not been reviewed for the past 30 years although the system

of establishment for staff in the other government departments had been improved

several times.

Thus, he said the ministry would instruct the Royal Malaysia Police to

provide a proposal paper on the improvement of the grades as a whole to be

presented to the Public Service Department (PSD).

Abu Seman also said that the ministry and the PSD also reviewed the salary

scheme and special allowances for junior officers in the Prisons Department.
