PENANG BN COMMITTED DESPITE CHALLENGING TIME, SAYS KOH

NIBONG TEBAL, April 22 (Bernama) -- Even though Penang Barisan Nasional (BN)

is facing a very challenging time, the commitment and spirit of its leadership

and members remains firm, said former Penang BN chairman Tan Sri Dr Koh Tsu

Koon.

Koh, who is also Gerakan president and Minister in the Prime Minister''s

Department, said with the spirit, Penang BN was prepared for a new commitment

and strategy to struggle for the people of Penang.

"The BN Coordinating and Working Committee led by Datuk Dr Teng Hock Nan and

colleagues will work hard for the people of Penang.

"This is the spirit we want and I urge the people of Penang to be with BN,"

he said when speaking at a BN election machinery gathering with Prime

Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak here today.

More than 5,000 people attended the event to listen to the keynote address

of the Prime Minister, who is also BN chairman.

At the ceremony, Najib also announced Gerakan secretary-general Teng

Chang Yeow''s appointment as the new Penang BN chairman succeeding Koh.

Koh said Penang BN

would continue to struggle until its last breath as was done by Penang MIC

chairman, the late Datuk P.K Subbaiyah, who passed away on Wednesday.

"Subbaiyah was always working for BN until his last breath, this is the

spirit we want and we are grateful for his undying efforts," he said.
