KANGAR, July 19 (Bernama) -- The four-day Perlis Farmers, Breeders and
Fishermen fair starting July 27 targets RM1 million in sales, said Agriculture
and Agro-based Industry and Cooperative Development comittee chairman, Sabry
Ahmad.
An estimated 100,000 visitors were expected at the event to be held at
Dataran Datuk Sheikh Ahmad, he added.
Speaking to reporters here today, Sabry said, last year they managed to
generate RM3 million sales due to overwhelming support from the public.
This year, the fair would focus on agro-based entrepreneurs with good
potential and Malaysia''s Best brand of products.
A few of the special attractions would be an exhibition of unique produce
such as ''giant tapioca'' and a 60kg jackfruit, a demonstration on the use of
monkeys to pluck coconuts and cooking demonstrations by local chefs, said Sabry.
More than 70 stalls and 18 government agencies including the Federal
Agricultural Marketing Authority (Fama) would take part in the event, he said.
