KUALA LUMPUR, May 24 (Bernama) -- As Sabah and Sarawak await Pesta Kaamatan
and Hari Gawai respectively, Petronas takes the opportunity to celebrate the
diverse cultures of the people through the ''Bakti Disemai'' (sowing good deeds)
programme.
The Kadazandusun''s Pesta Kaamatan falls on May 30 while the Iban''s Hari
Gawai is celebrated on June 1 and 2.
The ''Bakti Disemai" programme entails displaying advertisements on
television and in newspapers in Sabah and Sarawak, and posting a music video on
a social networking site, Myspace.
"The ads and music video combined elements and features of both festivals
not only for the benefit of Sabah and Sarawak communities, but also for all
Malaysians," said Petronas in a statement today.
It said to make the campaign a success, Petronas engaged a group of
teenagers to produce two artworks using beads for the newspaper ad.

"Both artworks have the words ''bakti disemai, budi dituai'' (good deeds
sowed, kindness harvested) incorporated along with several key elements in
Petronas operations in Sabah and Sarawak.
"''Bakti Disemai'' depict that crops, businesses or human capital development
must be nurtured to produce benefits that can be reaped for generations to come.
"This is also consistent with the essence of human capital development in
Petronas under the ''Reimagining Energy'' concept," it said.
The ''Semai Bakti'' campaign is an integral part of Petronas'' efforts to
interact with various communities to promote greater tolerance and appreciation
of the diverse cultural traditions among the people, it added.
