KUALA LUMPUR (Aug 8): Pharmaniaga Bhd net profit for the second quarter ended June 30, 2012 rose 12.85% to RM15.71 million from RM13.92 million a year earlier, on the back of higher revenue.
Revenue for the quarter increased to RM456.74 million from RM396.44 million in 2011.
Earnings per share was 13.35 sen compared to 13.92 sen previously, while net assets per share was RM4.09.
Pharmaniaga declared a second interim dividend, single tier of 7.5 sen per share to be paid on Sept 12.
For the six months ended June 30, Pharmaniaga posted net profit RM44.39 million compared to RM29.40 million, on the back of revenue RM903.48 million.
Reviewing its performance, Pharmaniaga said on Wednesday that higher sales volume to the government sector coupled with improvement in operational efficiencies in both the domestic and overseas business contributed to an 11.1% increase in revenue for the logistics and distribution division.
On its outlook, Pharmaniaga said the prospects for the Malaysian pharmaceutical industry remained reasonably bright.
