International Kite-Flying Festival
Uttarayan, celebrated every year on January 14 to
coincide with the Hindu auspicious day of Makar Sankranti, turns the sky
into a kaleidoscopic starburst of color in Gujarat. Though kites of all
descriptions take to the sky in different parts of India, the
most phenomenal spectacle is on display at the International Kite
Festival held every year in Ahmedabad. Kite-flyers from Malaysia, Indonesia, Italy, France and Japan among a host of countries make an appearance in the festival. Yahoo! reader Nisarg Lakhmani sent us these lovely photos of 2012 celebrations from Ahmedabad.
