A pig head plus trotters and skin were found outside a mosque in Sentul, Kuala Lumpur today, making it the second incident of its kind within the space of two days.
According to Batu MP Tian Chua, they were placed outside Masjid Hidayah along Jalan Sentul.
"Some nasty rascals placed a pig head in Masjid Hidayah in Sentul.
"Take my words, whoever (has been) playing with fire, we are going to give them hell!" he posted on Twitter at about 10am today.
When contacted, Chua said that the mosque bilal had spotted a plastic bag outside the main gate around 11 last night.
"But he did not touch it and locked up. The bag was only opened by the mosque committee at about 7.30am this morning and they discovered a pig's head, four trotters and skin," he said.
According to Chua, the mosque committee then contacted the police, who arrived about 8am.
Sniffer dogs brought in
The MP said upon receiving a call from the mosque committee at about 9am, he rushed to the scene from Putrajaya, adding that police left the scene at roughly 11am.
He said that sniffer dogs were brought in to assist investigations.
"I believe the incident is politically motivated to create discord in the country and divert from issues... and to create tensions, and whoever is behind this will not stop.
"They will continue to do this until something happens. I call on people not to fall into this trap," he said.
Chua said the mosque committee was calm in facing the situation.
A similar incident occurred at a mosque in Rawang on Jan 31, where the head was found wrapped in a plastic bag by the mosque committee before dawn prayers.
Police are investigating the case under Section 295 of the Penal Code which deals with desecration of places of worship, No arrests have been made so far.
Fifth of its kind
This is the sixth incident of pig heads being thrown into mosque and surau compounds since 2009.
Malaysiakini first reported three years ago that a pig head was found on the floor of a surau at Universiti Malaya.
The head, sliced into two, was placed on a PAS flag, inscribed with the words 'PMI', 'ProM' and 'PAS'.
It appeared that the culprits were seeking to link two student organisations - Persatuan Mahasiswa Islam (Islamic Students Association) and the anti-establishment (ProM) faction on campus - to Islamic opposition party PAS.
This was followed almost exactly a year later by an incident where four wild-boar heads were thrown into the compound of two mosques in Petaling Jaya.
Late last year, five pig heads were found, this time outside the Al-Falah mosque in Johor Baru.
The most recent was the Rawang, Selangor ,incident two days ago when a pig head was spotted at the entrance of Nurul Iman Mosque.
