PUTRAJAYA, May 15 (Bernama) -- The bidding for the ''WWW'' registration
numbers received the highest number of bids ever recorded at 18,243 bids when it
was closed at noon yesterday, said Transport Minister Datuk Seri Kong Cho Ha.
He said the bids recorded nearly four times more than the previous record of
4,750 bids for the ''WVW'' registration numbers.
"This is beyond our expectation. Hence, it will take time for the Road
Transport Department (JPJ) to process and analyse the bids received.
"Our officers are working hard to ensure that not a single bid is missed. We
hope the public will understand this," he told reporters after launching the
Transport Ministry''s Strategic Plan Book 2011-2015 here today.
The results is expected to be announced next Thursday.
Of the bids, 12,805 were received by JPJ in Wangsa Maju, Bandar Seri
Permaisuri (2,362), Maju Junction (926) and by post (2,150).
The bidding, which was opened on April 30, was for four registration number
categories -- premium, attractive, popular and running.
