KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 17 (Bernama) -- Plus Expressways Berhad (Plus) has issued
a travel time advisory (TTA) to ensure smooth traffic flow during the "balik
kampung" exodus in conjunction with the Chinese New Year (CNY) celebration which
falls on Jan 23 and 24.
Its managing director, Datuk Noorizah Abd Hamid, said about 1.4 million
vehicles were expected to use the North-South Expressway daily during the
festive period as compared to the normal 1.1 million vehicles.
"The merely 30 per cent increase in the vehicles will begin before the CNY
celebration, that is from Jan 20 until Jan 22, and also after the celebration
from Jan 24 until Jan 29," she told reporters after launching the TTA here
today.
According to the TTA, starting Jan 20, highway users from the Klang Valley
heading north to Kedah, Perlis and Penang or south to Johor Baharu via Skudai,
Senai Utara, Ayer Hitam, Yong Peng and Tangkak are advised to start their
journey before noon.
For those heading to Kuala Kangsar, Changkat Jering and Taiping in Perak as
well as Ayer Keroh in Melaka, they can start their journey between noon and 3pm.

Those heading to Ipoh, Simpang Pulai and Gopeng in Perak, as well as Tampin
in Negeri Sembilan and Alor Gajah in Melaka can start they journey between 3pm
and 6pm, while those heading to Tapah, Bidor, Sungkai, Slim River and Tanjung
Malim in Perak and Senawang, Port Dickson and Seremban in Negeri Sembilan are
advised to start their journey after 6pm.
On Jan 24 until 29, users returning to Klang Valley are advised to start
their journey before noon or after 6pm, while those who do not have to pass
through the Klang Valley can start their journey home between noon and 6pm.
