BUKIT MERTAJAM, May 31 (Bernama) -- Police have detained the husband of
woman who was believed to have died after a quarrel with the husband at Kampung
Main Road, Perai near here last Sunday.
Seberang Perai Tengah police chief ACP Azman Abd Lah said the Myanmar couple
who had married just two months ago had been involved in a quarrel that resulted
in the death of the woman, known as Hema, 26.
"During the 6pm incident, the husband had accused his wife of sending money
earned from their food stall to her family instead of giving him. An argument
had taken place and the husband had suffocated his wife using a pillow which
caused her death," he told reporters here today.
He said the man who panicked upon seeing his wife motionless, rushed her to
the Seberang Jaya Hospital and informed the hospital that his wife had tried to
commit suicide.
"However, a post-mortem revealed evidence of a struggle that may have caused
her death and police detained the man for investigations," he said.
