POLICE NAB DUO INVOLVED IN 4WD VEHICLE THEFT

TEMERLOH, May 21 (Bernama) -- Two men who were believed to have been active

in stealing four-wheel-drive-drive (4WD) vehicles here were arrested while

trying to steal another 4WD vehicle belonging to a businessman two days ago.

Temerloh police chief ACP Mohd Noor Mansur said the duo were caught

red-handed in front of the victim''s house in Taman Jaya 3, here at about 4.45am.

He said police had to fire a warning shot when the suspects, aged 23 and 25,

tried to escape.

"They surrendered soon after and police found various car-theft tools in the

car they were using," he told reporters here today.

He said the suspects had also admitted to have been involved in stealing 15

Toyota 4WD vehicles over the past two months and that the vehicles would be sold

to a syndicate for RM3,000 each.

Police also seized a Honda Civic car driven by the suspects, which was

reported stolen in Kuantan in February.

The duo had been remanded for a week to facilitate further investigation

into the case.
