KUALA LUMPUR, May 18 (Bernama) -- Police arrested three members of a

five-man gang, all whom are ex-detainees of the Simpang Renggam Detention Centre

in Johor, after they went on a robbing spree from Kuala Lumpur to Johor.

Kuala Lumpur CID chief Datuk Ku Chin Wah said on Wednesday, they had robbed

a woman at her home in Taman Wahyu, Jalan Kuching at 2.45am.

"The men who pretended to be policemen were carrying walkie-talkied. They

went to the house in three motorcycles and escaped with her Toyota Camry car,"

he told reporters here today.

He said,after the Taman Wahyu incident, the suspects, aged between 23 and

27, robbed a mobile phone shop in Pagoh, Muar, Johor and while on the way back

to Kuala Lumpur, they also robbed coins from a coin-changing machine in Pagoh

town.

He said the first victim lodged a police report on the loss of her car

yesterday following which police''s investigations led to the discovery of

the car at a workshop in Keramat here.

POLICE-ROBBERY 2 (LAST) KUALA LUMPUR

Ku said acting on information, police raided a house in Keramat and

detained one of the suspects despite the man trying to resist arrest by

attacking the raiding officers with a machete.

"Police had to fire a shot in self-defense. The suspect suffered a minor

injury while a policeman was injured his left hand. Both of them are now are

being treated at a hospital," he said, adding that police were hunting for the

remainig two suspects.

Police seized RM2,000, five machetes and mobile phones, three laptops and

three sling bags in the operation.
