The stars of European football really shined as their teams had to fight to secure progression to the knockout rounds or make up for a poor campaign, but what was the greatest moment of Euro 2012 matchday three?

Some great individual performances as well as some controversial moments shaped the final round of games of the group stages.

First of all, football fans around Europe became animated after watching Greece's Giorgos Karagounis put in an inspirational performance, netting the winner in the 1-0 victory over group favourites Russia which ultimately saw the Russians and co-hosts Poland knocked out of the tournament.

With Greece's shock progression still fresh in the memory, Denmark had cause to believe that they could also go into the quarter-finals ahead of Portugal.

Yet Cristiano Ronaldo pulled off one of the performances of the tournament so far, bombarding the Dutch goal and scoring twice in the 2-1 win to make sure Paulo Bento's team followed Germany into the knockout round.

A moment of brilliance from Zlatan Ibrahimovic lit up Kiev as his scissor kick flew past Hugo Lloris to give Sweden the lead against France, in turn handing England pole position in Group D.

Matchday three would not have been the same without some sort of controversy and we got that in the form of more debate concerning goal-line technology.

This time it worked in England's favour as John Terry cleared Marko Devic's ball from behind the line as the Three Lions held on to secure a 1-0 victory thanks to Wayne Rooney's goal.
