GEORGE TOWN, April 23 (Bernama) -- Penang Port Sdn Bhd (PPSB) is to bear all
costs incurred in rebuilding a new temple which was relocated due to its close
proximity to a hazardous chemical pipeline at the Perai Bulk Cargo Terminal
(BCT).
Its chairman, Datuk Seri Dr Hilmi Yahaya, said the decision was made after a
discussion with the Indian community around the area.
"A new site has been identified, a bit further from the original location,
and we are currently awaiting decision from the Safety Committee chaired by
Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng.
"After the site is approved, then only we will start building the new
temple," he told reporters after the BN Central Working Committee meeting here,
today.
Meanwhile, People''s Progressive Party chief Datuk Dr Loga Bala Mohan
had asked the Chief Minister not to politicize the 40-year-old temple issue as
it was successfully settled with the consent of Indian community.
The Chief Minister in his blog was reported to urge PPSB and Penang Port
Commission (PPC) to seek an apology from all Hindus for demolishing the temple.
