KUALA LUMPUR, April 26 (Bernama) -- Zakat Collection Centre of the Federal
Territories Islamic Religious Council (PPZI-MAIWP) has forecast total
collections of RM360 million in 2012 compared with RM341.33 million last year.
CEO Mohd Rais Alias said the increase would be in line with rising awareness
among the people of the obligation to pay zakat besides the country''s economy
being very good.
"In the first quarter of this year, we collected RM76.06 million compared
with RM69.51 million in the same period last year," he told a press conference
here today.
