KUALA LUMPUR: Apart from the ensuing traffic, Syarikat Prasarana Negara Berhad (Prasarana) has pledged to maintain the greenery along the heavily utilised Persiaran Kewajipan.
For every tree felled to make way for Kelana Jaya Line Extension project, Prasarana has promised to grow ten new ones.
This was among the promises made by Prasarana to ease the sight for sore eyes of road users travelling at peak hours.
"135 trees will be felled for the extension project along the 4.5 km stretch.
"The new trees with a minimum height of two metres each will be replanted to keep the stretch scenic," said Kelana Jaya Line Station project head Faudzilah Razali during a project briefing at Subang Jaya Municipal Council (MPSJ) headquarters.
Faudzillah ensured that MPSJ Landscape Department will be keeping tabs with the project, adding that Prasarana is in the midst of preparing the inventory for the tree planting exercise.
The station located at USJ2-USJ 15 along Persiaran Kewajipan, is one of the seven being constructed in Subang Jaya area.
Faudzilah said two pedestrian walks along the stretch will be affected during reconstruction, adding that the pedestrian walk at Goodyear Court two will be demolished and rebuilt nearer towards the traffic lights.
He added that signboards and banners will be put up to alert road users and residents of the impending construction work.
"This project which is expected to be start on March 20 is expected to be fully completed by end of 2014," he said.
He added that widening works have started along the stretch on Feb 17 folllowed by other work such as piling, pier.

Prasarana has started widening the roads along the stretch since last Tuesday.
