The police investigations into the missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 is ongoing after almost a year after the incident, even with conclusive evidence of what might have happened to its 239 passengers and the plane.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar said the investigation paper was still open until further developments take place.

"The investigation is still on and we have never closed the case," he said today.

The fate of the jetliner which was en route to Beijing, China from the KL International Airport (KLIA) remains unknown, although it had been officially declared an “accident” today.

On March 11, last year, the police and Interpol disclosed that the two men travelling on stolen passports on board the plane were Iranian nationals identified as Pouria Nour Mohammad Mehrdad, 19, and Delavar Seyed Mohammad Erza, 29, and that they were not linked to any terrorist group.

In the following days, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak said the flight's communication system and transponder were deliberately switched off when the plane reached the east coast the peninsula, and between the Malaysian and Vietnamese air traffic controls.

Khalid said the police probe focused on four areas, namely the possibility of a hijack, sabotage, psychological condition of passengers and crew, and personal problems of the passengers and crew.

"Even though we have no concrete evidence on the case, we are still discussing the matter with the attorney-general's office, including its development in the search and recovery operation." – Bernama, January 29, 2015.
