KUALA TERENGGANU, April 16 (Bernama) -- Datuk Prof Dr Ibrahim Komoo has been
appointed the new Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT) vice-chancellor,
replacing Datuk Prof Dr Aziz Deraman whose term expired last April 12.
A statement issued by UMT today stated that Ibrahim''s appointment is for
three years, effective April 13, 2012 to April 12, 2015.
Ibrahim, who is Head of Environment and Natural Resources Cluster, is also a
member of the National Council of Professors and a council member of the Academy
of Sciences Malaysia.
He was previously the deputy vice-chancellor for research and innovation,
director of the Institute for Environment and Development (Lestari) and director
of the Southeast Asia Disaster Prevention Research Institute at Universiti
Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM).
Ibrahim is also the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural
Organisation (Unesco) Expert Group and Global Geopark Network Bureau member.
