SHAH ALAM, June 26 (Bernama) -- Puncak Niaga Holdings Bhd executive chairman
Tan Sri Rozali Ismail said the company would be holding talks with the National
Water Services Commission (SPAN) soonest possible to discuss on an action plan
to face a water shortage in Selangor.
Currently, its subsidiaries Puncak Niaga (M) Sdn Bhd is responsible for
treating raw water in Selangor while Syarikat Bekalan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd
(Syabas) is the only company supplying treated water to Putrajaya, Kuala Lumpur
and Selangor.
Rozali said he himself, with Syabas and Puncak Niaga representatives, would
discuss with SPAN on how to ensure sufficient water supply, including short-term
and long-term measures should the current dry season prolong.
He said they are always open to discussing water issues with the state and
federal government, and that Puncak Niaga was prepared to share information and
data on water in Selangor, including with non-governmental organisations.
Puncak Niaga does not want to be blamed in the future for not sharing
Selangor''s water situation should a water crisis occur in Selangor, he added.
