PUTRAJAYA, Jan 14 (Bernama) - The bicycle lane in Putrajaya is being
repaired as part of the efforts by Putrajaya Corporation to encourage cycling
activities, Federal Territories and Urban Wellbeing Ministry Secretary-General
Datuk Ahmad Phesal Talib said today.
He also said that an inspectorate team had been set up to monitor facilities
and infrastructure for cycling in Putrajaya.
"Putrajaya, which has a road network suitable for cycling, will soon be a
well-known destination for cycling events.
"Cycling can promote a healthy lifestyle, as well as encourage tourism
activities here," he told reporters after flagging off a convoy of cyclists in
conjunction with the "Fly the Flag" campaign for the 2012 Federal Territories
Day here today.
Ahmad Phesal said the Putrajaya Corporation would provide maps of the
bicycle lane to the eight parks in Putrajaya, comprising the Botany Park, the
Agricultural Heritage Park, the Wawasan Park, Wetland Park, Equestrian Park,
Taman Putra Perdana, Taman Rimba Alam and Taman Selatan.
