8 Feb – Hong Kong superstar Raymond Lam might be a popular actor and the "Golden Melody Gold Award" winner for his song, "Chok", but the highly rated actor at TVB has become the object of severe criticism upon being unable to accommodate with requests from producers; reported TVB News World.
In "Fight Crime", the 32-year-old star sports an unshaven appearance to measure up to his role as a rough cop, but that has apparently caused some friction between the actor and producers.
Producer of the series, Lam Chi Wah brought to Raymond's attention that more facial hair growth was needed to achieve a gruff look suited to his role, to which the "Chok" singer made a fuss and responded, "I'm afraid it would get dirty!".
Raymond then revealed, "The producer asked me to grow out my beard longer, but the facial hair on the sides of my jaw are not dense! I can't help it!"
In each drama, Raymond is observed to retain his handsome, well-kept image. It was not until "Fight Crime" in which Raymond was requested to grow a beard in order to fit his rough character for which he refused to do.
Aside from Raymond, there are many actors who also fall prey when it comes to their vanity, Leon Lai refused the request of "Fallen Angel" director Wong Kar Wai of wearing sandals, as the star revealed that his toes were considered unattractive. Andy Lau eventually sported a skinhead-look in the 2006 film, "The Warlord", though media revealed that he had a small fall-out with the director, Peter Chan about the matter. For "A Fistful of Stances" in 2009, Kevin Cheng had refused to wear a fake moustache onscreen, wishing to appear "more handsome".
