KANGAR, Feb 8 (Bernama) -- Research activities, which have all this while
been mostly carried out by institutions of higher learning, should be encouraged
at the school level, said Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) vice-chancellor,
Prof Datuk Dr Kamarudin Hussin.
In this regard, he hoped research would be fostered through activities that
could attract students into becoming young researchers.
In his speech in conjunction with the Effective Research Workshop For
Residential Schools, here, last night, he expressed confidence the workshop
would give a big impact towards strengthening research activities in the
country.
The four-day workshop, organised by UniMAP with the cooperation of the
Education Ministry''s Fully Residential School and Elite School Management
Division, is participated by teachers from 63 fully residential schools
nationwide.
Kamarudin hoped the workshop, held for the first time, would benefit these
schools through sharing of expertise and experience with UniMAP, which
is now making a name for itself in the international research arena.
