CHERAS: Revenge is believed to be the motive behind the arson attack which destroyed six motorcycles and a car in Desa Sri Putri apartment on Wednesday.

A source said that a witness told police that a man was seen holding a handful of papers and loitering near the motorcycles which were set ablaze.

"We believe that the suspect had used the papers to light a fire near the petrol cap of the bikes," said the source.

The incident took place at 3.30am on the first floor of the apartment car park. Although there was a closed--circuit camera in the car park area,it did not cover the crime scene.

Cheras police chief ACP Mohan Singh said no suspects had been identified.

"We urge witnesses to come forward and help police with investigations," said Mohan.

Police also did not find any items that may have started the fire.
