KUALA LUMPUR, May 17 (Bernama) -- The goverment made an allocation of RM112
million to cover the management of 185 museums through the country for a period
of three years from 2010, said Information, Communications and Culture Minister
Datuk Seri Dr Rais Yatim.
He said the allocation was also to enable the museums to play their role in
channelling information on a wider scale including in improving their quality of
displays.
"As such, each museum must take the initiative to improve its delivery
system and quality of exhibition," he told reporters after the launching of the
national-level International Museums Day 2012 at the National Museum here today.
The launching was officiated by Tengku Mahkota Pahang Tengku Abdullah, who
represented his father, Sultan Ahmad Shah of Pahang.
Rais said his ministry would also be organising an exhibition on the history
of Bahasa Melayu this year to highlight the evolution of the national language.

"This exhibition will be unique because it has never been held before. We

experiences to improve the quality of exhibits and collection of artifacts.
This would help attract more visitors to museums, he said.
He said the state of Pahang was also very proud to be selected to host the
final highlights of the International Museums Day 2012 in September in Pekan and
that this would go a long way in showcasing Pahang as a a state that was rich in
