Bayern Munich winger Arjen Robben has expressed his delight with the Bavarians' 2-0 Champions League win over Olympique de Marseille, and feels they have made a big step towards the semi-finals.
Goals from Mario Gomez before the break and Robben after the interval helped FCB to an important away win in the first leg of their quarter-final tie, and Robben was very pleased with the final scoreline.
"This is a very good result. It's excellent if you win a quarter-final away from home 2-0. We have made a big step towards the semi-finals," Robben said to NOS.
"We were always focused, because we know Marseille have a strong squad. They might be going through a tough spell, but it's still the Champions League. They knocked out Inter, so we knew what they are capable of.
"Everbody was talking about the match between Real Madrid and APOEL, but we need to eliminate Marseille first [before thinking about our next opponent]. We have to be alert next week."
Both sides meet again at the Allianz Arena on April 3.
