    PETALING JAYA, May 25 ― PKR will delay its party elections originally scheduled for this November, owing to a disruption by the country’s 13th general election.

PUTRAJAYA, May 26 (Bernama) -- Rural youths are advised against migrating to

rural areas, but to utilise their energy and ideas to develop their villages.

Rural and Regional Development Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal said

various programmes, including agropolitan projects, as well as those under the

National Key Result Areas (NKRA) and the Rural Transformation Centre (RTC), were

implemented as part of the government''s efforts to develop the rural areas.

He said youth presence in the rural areas was crucial to spur rural economic

growth.

"So, I advise the rural youths not to migrate to the towns, remain in the

rural areas to ensure development of our villages," he told reported after

opening the Government To Youth (G2Y) programme in conjunction with the One

Million Youth Gathering here today.

On a statement by former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad that the

opposition may use violent demonstration to win the coming general election,

Mohd Shafie said it was true.

This, he said, was due to the overwhelming support given by the people to

programmes implemented by the government.

"On the other hand, their (opposition) programmes do not get that kind of

respond. So, to get the people''s attention, they hold demonstrations, " he

added.
