KOTA KINABALU, May 16 (Bernama) -- A total 659 cartons of smuggled liquor
involving RM110,000 in revenue were seized at Donggongon Town, Penampang, near
here, yesterday.
Sabah deputy director of the Malaysian Royal Customs Department (Enforcement
and Compliance Division) Hamzah Sundang said the operation involved the
department and the Sabah branch of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission
(MACC).
He said the operation which was headed by the Kota Kinabalu Customs
Enforcement Division and MACC, comprising 15 personnel, also detained the
55-year-old owner of the premises for further investigation.
"Also sealed were two vans loaded with alcoholic drinks of various brands,
estimated to be worth RM60,000, parked in front of the premises during the raid
at 3pm," he said in a press statement to Bernama, here, today.
Hamzah said the department thanked the public for their support by
furnishing information on the case.
