LANGKAWI, Jan 14 (Bernama) -- Malaysia''s Uranus made good their promise to
seize the overall third spot in the premier class of the 10th Langkawi Royal
International Regatta 2012, casting aside a stiff challenge from Jelik II from
Hong Kong.
In the last coastal challenge today, the Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) team,
skippered by Mohamad Razali Mansor, showed consistent performance to win third
places in both challenges to garner six penalty points as against Jelik II''s 10
penalty points.
The point collection also influenced the overall position between the two
teams when Uranus succeeded in recapturing the overall third place by
registering 38 points, three more points than Jelik II which finished fourth.
Mohamad Razali, 41, attributed the success to the moderate wind and his
highly motivated crew.
"We started well, aided by eight to 13 knots of wind. In fact, our target of
finishing at least third had spurred us throughout the race," he said.
