KUALA LUMPUR (Jan 16): Salcon Bhd announced to Bursa Malaysia on Wednesday that it had bagged a RM110 million contract from the Ministry of Energy, Green Technology and Water's Sewerage Services Department. The contract is expected to contribute positively towards its earnings and net assets.

The project -- known as Package D55 – Construction of Sewage Pipes Network at Lot 130, Klang, Selangor Darul Ehsan (Design & Build) -- will cover all works associated with the sewage rationalisation within the South Klang sub-catchment located in Klang.

Salcon’s subsidiary Salcon Engineering Bhd received the letter of acceptance dated Jan 14, 2013, from the ministry on Wednesday.

The contract is for 48 months, from Jan 29, 2013 to Jan 28, 2017. The company expects the project to contribute positively towards the earnings and net assets of Salcon Group for the period of the project.

"The project will not have any effect on the share capital and substantial shareholders’ equity interest," said Salcon in its announcement.

Salcon is a water and wastewater engineering company that offers services related to the investment, design, construction, commissioning, operation and maintenance of water and wastewater treatment plants and ancillary facilities.

Since 1974, Salcon Engineering has successfully completed more than 500 water treatment and 300 wastewater projects in Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Vietnam and China.
