KUALA LUMPUR, May 11 (Bernama) -- The second generation of Felda settlers
are supporting all the efforts, policies and action plans implemented by the
government led by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.
They described all the programmes and action plans implemented by the
government as a strong boost in their efforts to contribute towards the
development of the country.
Abdul Alias Rahmat, 28, a young Felda settler in Bandar Ketengah Jaya,
Dungun, Terengganu said the efforts of the government in setting up Felda had
succeeded in becoming a major indicator to him to become a settler in earning an
income.
"I am grateful to be a part of the settler family and now I inherited the
vocation as a settler created by the government led by Umno earlier," he said.
On the listing of Felda on Bursa Saham, he said if the matter truly
benefited the people of Malaysia, particularly the settlers, then it should be
implemented.

"I am not conversant in share transactions but if what the prime minister
said is true when he announced the wind fall for Felda settlers, I feel that it
should be carried out because what I know is that it benefits other Malaysians
too and not only the Felda settlers," he said.
Rozali Che Mat, 25, said as an undergraduate from a family who had benefited
from the creation of Felda by the government, it was not a major issue for the
Felda youths to accept the action of the government in listing the shares of the
land scheme.
"It is true that there are the old Felda generation who are concerned about
the listing of Felda shares but for the younger group like me, it is not an
issue because why should we be negative about the listing if the benefits
derived are much more...I believe there are groups who purposely exploit the
issue by spreading lies to the settlers," he said.
The youths, particularly those living in the urban fringes and rural areas,
also benefited from the action plan and transformation undertaken by the
government.
Nur Nabihah Nordin, 22, a student of a local private institution of higher
learning said it was true that the policies and efforts carried out by the
government had left an impact on the youths.
"As a student, the move by the government in giving the 1Malaysia Book
Voucher recently had certainly eased the burden on my family who come from the
rural area and earning a moderate income," she said.
