KUANTAN, May 30 (Bernama) -- A senior citizen who was shot in his stomach
during a robbery at his house in Kampung Kemansor yesterday, died two hours
later in the hospital.
During the 9.30pm incident, the victim Wong Kum Chuan, 63, was shot in his
stomach by an assaialnt who had broken into his house and died at the Bentong
Hospital while receiving treatment.
Wong was watching television in the hall while his wife and two children
were sleeping when he heard a noise from the kitchen and went to investigate,
only to find a man with a shotgun in his kitchen.
Bentong Police Chief Supt Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri said the victim who was
involved in a struggle with the assailant was shot from close range.
"Upon hearing the gunshot, the victim''s son rushed to the kitchen and saw
his sprawled on the floor while the assailant demanded the son to give him
money," he said when contacted here today.
The assaialnt who had covered his face with a cloth escaped with RM3,000.
"Police have classified the case as murder and carrying out investigations
under Section 302 of the Penal Code," he said.
