SEVEN STUDENTS ARRIVE HOME FROM SYRIA

SEPANG, July 25 (Bernama) -- The first batch of seven Malaysian students who

were brought back from Syria following the internal strife there, arrived at the

Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) here at 4.25pm today.

They were brought back using Emirates Airline and were received by Deputy

Foreign Minister Datuk Richard Riot.

"There will be another three flights tomorrow and by night (tomorrow), there

will be no more Malaysian students in Syria except for those who have opted not

to return and five embassy staff and seven Malaysiand working as expatriates in

the country," he told reporters at KLIA.

He said the Malaysian embassy would continue to persuade eight other

Malaysian students who have chosen to remain in Syria to return home because no

one could guarantee their safety in the current situation in that country.

"Most importantly, all Malaysian nationals (in Syria) are out of harms way,"

he added.
