Shell introduces the Rimula R4 X
Shell has launched their latest addition to the Shell Rimula range of diesel engine oil products, the Shell Rimula R4 X.
For an engine to run efficiently it requires the use of good engine oil. It not only lubricates, but also protects the engine from excessive wear and foreign contaminants to prolong the life of the engine. Shell thoroughly believes in this philosophy and that is why today, Shell Lubricants has launched the new Shell Rimula R4 X diesel engine oil.
Speaking at the launch, Ms. Chia Uen-Li, Cluster General Manager, Shell Lubricants SEA-South, said, “Maintaining cleanliness in an engine is crucial for operating efficiency and wear control. Shell Rimula R4 X’s optimised detergent additive system uses detergents to reduce piston deposits, and soot dispersants to reduce sludge deposits in various parts of heavy-duty diesel engines more effectively and efficiently than ever. It really is the oil that works as hard as you.”
Shell Rimula R4 X 15W-40 is the latest addition to Shell Rimula’s range of high performance heavy-duty engine oils after the Shell Rimula R5 LE synthetic technology and Shell R6 LM fully synthetic oils, which were introduced last year. Boasting superior triple protection, Shell Rimula R4 X contains a specially optimised combination of additives and chemicals that can provide optimum level of engine cleanliness, wear and oxidation in engines with exhaust gas recirculation (EGR).
EGR introduces some exhaust gas into the inlet air charge to reduce peak combustion temperatures. These gases contain acids (sulphurous and sulphuric) and soot particles that can ruin the effectiveness of the engine oil with respect to corrosion and soot-induced wear.
Shell Rimula R4 X has an added benefit as it helps to prevent oil thickening and the formation of harmful deposits in all areas of the engine, which include the bulk oil in the sump and the thin oil films at high temperatures in the piston ring belt area. It is able to provide a high level of soot dispersancy and enables protection at higher soot levels (up to 6%) as demonstrated in EGR engine specification tests. Shell Rimula R4 X can be used on a wide range of vehicles, which include heavy or large trucks, buses and heavy construction equipment.
Apart from the launch of their new engine oil, Shell also announced the launch of the Shell Rimula ‘Win the Ride of Your Life’ global promotion. It’s a consumer contest that will be held from 1st April to 31st June 2013. Six lucky Malaysian Grand Prize winners will enjoy a 5-day 4-night VIP trip to Prague, Czech Republic. The fun doesn’t stop there as they will also have an opportunity to ride on one of the 2013 European Truck Racing Championship trucks around the Autodrom Most circuit.
