Siti Aishah promises to return to Malaysia after 9 months, says sister – Bernama

“Saya tidak akan pujuk dia untuk pulang,” kata kakak Siti Aishah

Siti Aishah Abdul Wahab who was allegedly enslaved for 30 years in London has promised to return to Malaysia in nine months, said her elder sister, Kamar Mahtum.

Kamar, 79, who was met by reporters upon her arrival at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport today, said in her meeting with Siti Aishah at a secret location in England on Thursday, her youngest sister pledged to return home after finishing her work there.

"She has many activities there, she is doing welfare work to help people as a volunteer but I persuaded her to return," she said after arriving with political activist Hishamuddin Rais at 7.40am.

Kamar said, however, she could heave a sigh of relief after seeing her sister well and happy there as newspapers had reported that Siti Aishah was unwell.

"She is physically healthy and was fatter than me, she also yearns for her family in Malaysia but was torn by the call to help the poor there," she said.

Last Saturday, the media reported that a 69-year-old woman was among three women freed from being slaves on October 25 in south London after one of them contacted a welfare organisation. The other two women were an Irish and a British.

Aishah, from Jelebu, Negeri Sembilan left the country in 1968 to further her education at the London School of Economics.

In London, she was said to have been influenced by a Maoist movement, which led to her abandoning her studies.

Meanwhile, when asked on the religious status of Siti Aishah, Kamar said, "With me she has already said but between her and Allah, only she will know." - Bernama, December 1, 2013.
