KUALA LUMPUR, March 22 (Bernama) -- Members of a voluntary price monitoring
group assigned by the Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Ministry
would be issued a special card to enjoy discounts at selected outlets.
The previously voluntary price monitoring group that was formed in 2001
would now be called ''Skuad Pengguna'' and function as partners to consumers by
being the eyes and ears of the ministry to monitor prices and services.
Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Minister Datuk Seri Ismail
Sabri Yaakob said individuals who register as members of the squad would be
given special privileges, including an identification card as ''Skuad Pengguna''
with which they would be able to enjoy discounts and royalty.
The ''Skuad Pengguna'' members will enjoy discounts from two to 20 percent
from 36 participating members of Bank Rakyat, including cooperatives, travel
services, holiday destinations, hotels, farm products and flights.
The 43,000 former partners of consumers did not enjoy special privileges
like the ''Skuad Pengguna'' card.
Members of the public interested in registering as ''Skuad Pengguna'' members
